Privacy Policy
Last updated 27 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how BROWNZ MEDIA SERVICES LTD ("Brownz Media", "we", "us" or "our") collects, uses and protects personal data in connection with our website brownzmedia.co.uk and our live-streaming, recording and production services for snooker, pool and darts events.
We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. We are a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17225531, with our registered office at 79 Malvern Avenue, Ellesmere Port, CH65 5AQ. For any privacy or data protection request, contact us at phil@brownzmedia.co.uk.
Filming and recording: a large part of what we do involves filming and live-streaming events, which means we capture images, footage and sometimes the voices of players, officials and spectators. If you have attended or will attend an event we are covering, please also read our Filming & Recording Notice, which explains your options in plain English.
1. The personal data we collect
Information you give us
- Enquiry data — when you use our enquiry form or email us, we collect your name, email address, the sport you're interested in and the details of your event or message.
- Client and booking data — if you book us, we hold the contact, venue, event and billing details needed to deliver and invoice the work.
- Correspondence — any messages, calls or emails you exchange with us.
Information we capture when filming
- Images and footage — photographs, video and live-stream footage of events we cover. People who play in, officiate at, or attend these events may appear in this footage, along with their likeness and, at times, their voice.
- Match and player data — player names, scores, frames, legs, breaks, results and statistics shown on our broadcast overlays.
Information we collect automatically
- Technical and log data — when you visit our website, limited technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type may be processed by our hosting and content-delivery providers.
- Cookies and similar technologies — see our Cookie Policy. Our site does not use advertising or tracking cookies.
2. How we use your data and our lawful bases
| Purpose | Lawful basis (UK GDPR) |
|---|---|
| Responding to enquiries and providing quotes | Legitimate interests; taking steps before entering a contract |
| Delivering a booked streaming, recording or production service | Performance of a contract with the booking client |
| Filming, live-streaming and recording events, and producing overlays and scoreboards | Performance of a contract (with the booking client); legitimate interests (operating a sports-broadcasting business) |
| Publishing, broadcasting and promoting recordings and highlight clips (e.g. on YouTube, Facebook and TikTok) | Legitimate interests (promoting our work and the sport; events of this kind are public-facing) |
| Invoicing, taking payment and keeping accounting and tax records | Performance of a contract; legal obligation |
| Securing our website and services and preventing abuse | Legitimate interests |
| Complying with legal obligations | Legal obligation |
We do not use your personal data for third-party advertising, and we do not sell it. Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have considered your rights and interests and balanced them against ours; you can object to this processing at any time (see section 6).
3. Filming, your image and your options
Snooker, pool and darts events that we stream are, by their nature, public-facing — they are watched in the venue and broadcast online. When we film, players, officials and members of the audience may be captured on camera and may appear in our live streams, recordings and promotional clips.
We rely on our legitimate interests in operating a broadcasting business and promoting the sport as our lawful basis for this. Where an event involves children, or where the organiser has agreed to obtain consents, we work with the venue or organiser, who are responsible for informing attendees and obtaining any consents required (see also our Terms & Booking Conditions).
If you do not wish to appear, or you want us to remove footage in which you can be identified, please speak to the event organiser on the day or contact us at phil@brownzmedia.co.uk. We will consider every reasonable request, though we cannot always remove footage that has already been broadcast live or that others have re-shared. Our Filming & Recording Notice explains this in more detail.
4. Sharing your data and our providers
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers who help us run our business and deliver our broadcasts, and where required by law. These include:
| Provider | Purpose | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Website hosting, content delivery and security | Global edge network |
| Formspree | Processing enquiry-form submissions | United States |
| Google / YouTube | Live streaming and publishing video content | United States / Global |
| Meta (Facebook / Instagram) | Live streaming and publishing video content | United States / Ireland |
| TikTok | Publishing short-form video content | Global |
When footage is published on a platform such as YouTube, Facebook or TikTok, that platform processes it under its own terms and privacy policy. We may also disclose data where required to comply with the law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights, safety or property of Brownz Media or others. If our business is reorganised, sold or transferred, personal data may be transferred as part of that transaction.
5. International transfers
Some of our providers are located outside the UK. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement / Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, so that your data continues to receive an equivalent level of protection.
6. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data erased in certain circumstances;
- restrict or object to certain processing, including objecting to processing based on our legitimate interests (such as publishing footage in which you appear);
- data portability; and
- withdraw consent where we rely on it, without affecting prior processing.
To exercise any of these rights, email phil@brownzmedia.co.uk. We will respond within the time limits required by law. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk — though we would appreciate the chance to address your concerns first.
7. How long we keep your data
We keep enquiry and client data for as long as needed to respond to you and to deliver and account for our services. Billing and transaction records are kept for at least six years to meet UK tax and accounting requirements. Footage and recordings may be kept indefinitely as part of our published broadcast and promotional library, unless you ask us to remove material in which you are identifiable and it is reasonable for us to do so.
8. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including transport encryption (HTTPS) on our website and access controls on the systems we use. No online service can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
9. Children
Some events we cover may include players or spectators under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children through our website. Where children may appear in footage, we rely on the event organiser and the venue to inform attendees and to obtain any parental consents required. If you are a parent or guardian and you have a concern about footage of a child, please contact us at phil@brownzmedia.co.uk and we will deal with it promptly.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here, and the "last updated" date above shows when it was last revised.
11. Contact
